Building Surgical Capacity Through Partnership

The Organizations Behind ARC
ARC's work in Armenia is made possible through the commitment of world-class organizations dedicated to building lasting surgical capacity where it is needed most.
Operation Rainbow
Founded in 1978, Operation Rainbow is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to performing free orthopedic surgeries for children in developing countries who lack access to necessary medical procedures or equipment.
Over the past 48 years, Operation Rainbow's volunteer surgeons and medical teams have donated more than one million volunteer hours in order to:
• Bring relief to children and young adults suffering from congenital deformities or chronic, debilitating injuries through corrective surgeries
• Provide pain and symptom management and physical therapy to more than 50,000 children and young adults confronting orthopedic problems or chronic injuries
• Train hundreds of doctors and nurses in host countries in orthopedic-specific surgical techniques and post-operative care, providing the specialized knowledge they need to treat complex orthopedic injuries and conditions in the future
Operation Rainbow has always remained deeply invested in physician and nursing education and in long-term program development. For more than 25 years, Operation Rainbow has sponsored Armenian surgeons to train at institutions such as UCSF, San Francisco General Hospital, and Stanford.
In July 2024, Operation Rainbow conducted its first mission in Armenia. The team of veteran educators from medicine, surgery, anesthesia, and nursing spent 12 days analyzing existing healthcare delivery systems and holding extensive discussions with Armenian administrators and healthcare providers to understand their goals and the obstacles they face. Since that mission, Operation Rainbow has continued to provide necessary personnel and donated equipment to help achieve those goals.

Global-QUEST
Global-QUEST is a consortium of international surgeons experienced in global surgical outreach, focused on improving access to specialized hand surgery care in low-resource countries while building sustainable local surgical capacity.
In 2025, in coordination with Operation Rainbow, Global-QUEST began a multiyear initiative in Yerevan, Armenia, with the specific goal of training local surgeons, therapists, nurses, and operating-room staff — rather than only providing short-term mission care. The initiative focuses on building sustainable systems, including:
• Follow-up clinics and rehabilitation pathways
• Surgical education and quality-improvement programs
• Outcomes tracking systems
Global-QUEST creates long-term partnerships with hospitals and local physicians so that care continues long after visiting teams depart.

“QUEST has been a pivotal catalyst in my professional growth, providing advanced training, long-term mentorship, and an international network that enabled me to move from individual skill development to system-level leadership, translating global standards into sustainable hand surgery and rehabilitation programs in Armenia. ARC’s commitment to supporting our team at Wigmore ensures that this work continues by providing the resources, training infrastructure, and long-term partnership that will allow us to keep raising the standard of care for every patient we serve.”
FUJIFILM Sonosite
The FUJIFILM Sonosite Global Health Program is a humanitarian initiative that helps clinicians and nonprofit medical teams bring portable point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) systems to underserved and low-resource areas around the world.
The program focuses on improving access to diagnostic imaging in places where traditional radiology infrastructure is limited or nonexistent and providing frontline clinicians with the tools they need to make faster, more accurate diagnoses and deliver better patient outcomes.

SIGN Fracture Care International
SIGN Fracture Care International is a nonprofit humanitarian orthopedic organization that provides fracture implants, surgical instruments, and surgeon education to hospitals in low- and middle-income countries. Its mission is to make modern fracture surgery available in places where patients would otherwise remain disabled or untreated.
SIGN's contributions to ARC's work in Armenia directly support the fracture management component of the ARC Lab, ensuring that surgeons have both the tools and the training to treat complex fractures with the same standard of care available in high-resource settings. The FUJIFILM Sonosite Global Health Program is a humanitarian initiative that helps clinicians and nonprofit medical teams bring portable point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) systems to underserved and low-resource areas around the world.
